This announcement from a few months ago https://www.siliconrepublic.com/comms/enet-sse-broadband-fibre-ireland

Im in one of the towns but im outside the efibre area, Im in the FTTH for eir which I should have some time in 2018

Are Enet doing FTTH to those in just the towns or does it extend into the rural areas too, i.e. past current efibre. Im 3km from the town centre.

    was this ever made clear?

I reckon the hint is in the article itself, regional towns being the urbanized sections of towns similar to what Siro are doing. No 'rural' mentioned in the article. OpenEir/Eir are the only provider serving rural areas beyond town boundary's in Ireland with real Fibre Broadband.
