Long exposure without a tripod.

Hi all,

I rang the Funderland office today because I was interested in doing some long exposure shots of the rides. Light trails, all that good stuff.

They told me photography is no problem, but tripods cannot be used, as they are a tripping hazard for crowds.

Does anyone have any suggestions that would be a possible substitute? Thinking of exposures anything from 3 to 15 seconds depending on conditions.

Do you have a gorilla pod? If not they are fantastic for travelling with your camera. Will clamp onto lots of things and easy to pack.. Would be ideal for what you describe.

Bean bag? Use your backpack/messenger bag if you have one?

Second the gorilla pod, as you can place it on walls, etc, as well as railings.

Thanks for the feedback. Was thinking of my bag but was hoping to have some fine control

The GorillaPod looks like it might be what I need, so I'll give that a look.

One thing I'll say is to weigh your camera with lens attached, and add a healthy margin when looking at the weight specs of the pods, as some models tend to support sweet eff all!

The D7200 with a sigma 10-20mm is around 1.5 Kg

This is rated for 2.7kg so that should be fine?

I’ve used that gorilla with a heavier lens. Be grand.

So Funderland turned out to be pretty bleak so didn't get anything there. Did get this nice shot in Fairview though.
