Can anyone recommend one over the other?

    Thanks

    Valeo Silencio
I like Bosch, but haven't used Valeo so can't say for sure.

The aero twin is quite good, usually wins awards by some car test crowd.

Both are OE suppliers , both are quality. I've valeo blades on my current Audi and have had Bosch on past cars.

I've never used the Bosch twin blade but I found the single blade wipers started squeaking very soon after being fitted, valeo on the other hand easily lasted over a year.

I'm using Lidl brand myself now and before that I used wiperblades.co.uk generic own brand wipers all pretty good.

    Valeo Silencio
I've had the Valeo bog standard version on the car and they were grand. The Bosch Aerotwin compared to any standard blades are night and day but the Silencio seems to use the same technology.

Never had a problem with either. Found both to be pretty good. I always change my wipers before winter

I like Aerotwins, but recently tried Michelin Stealth which seem even better so far, although I've only had them a week.

    Valeo Silencio
Well, I went with Bosch AeroTwins

€42 in Halfrauds, got lucky and picked up a brand new set of the Exact same ones on adverts for €15 :D

Haven't put them on yet but it will be interesting to see how they compare to the Valeos which are currently on the car.

Is there any "prep" I should do before fitting new wipers, besides giving the windscreen a good clean?

Would it not make more sense to change them after winter? The freezing they endure during winter causes them to perish quite quickly I would imagine

You might have to code them to the car with VCDS :D :P

A lot of debate on other forums I frequent on Bosch v Valeo. General consensus is that Bosch aerotwins are much superior. I had Valeo's factory fitted on my car which did tend to smear and squeak a bit, I replaced them with Bosch and they don't smear.

Is there anything more irritating than squeaky wipers...

I've ordered them from windscreenwipersdirect.co.uk a couple of times. Much cheaper than local.

I had a set of Sparco, bought in Italy (not the "aero" low profile ones, standard shape) which were very good and lasted nearly two years.

When they finally wore down I "refilled" them by changing just the rubber inserts with new ones off eBay..."Silicone blade technology" they said; "Superior performance and quality" they said. Smudging and smearing all over, to the point I was constantly cleaning the windshield off, convinced some chemicals were over it.

Changed them for a set of Bosch Aerotwins last week - night and day difference.

I'm on my third set of Aeros now with the same car and the model number is identical each time but the current set are squeaking a bit more than previous sets.
