Ferret question...

I'm looking into getting a couple of ferrets, preferably by adoption.

Are they hard to come by? I think i've only ever seen them once in a petshop. I'm aware of people who use them for hunting but id be keeping them solely as pets.

My plan is to get a large wooden or cladden shed and convert it into an enclosure.

Anyone have any experience with ferrets or how to come by them?

Might be worth checking around a few rescues to see if any are available.Other than that there are plenty advertised on done deal late spring/early summer.
They make great pets, but do need attention and regular handling from a young age to prevent nippiness.
Also female ferrets need to either be bred from every year or will need spaying.male ferrets, unless neutered, will smell quite strongly around breeding time.I don't mind the smell myself, but many do.

Our shelter has ferrets from time to time, so you should contact your local shelters/rescues and let them know you're interested in rehoming. Theres a facebook page might be worth checking out:
