Breakdown on new(ish) bike query.

Quick question if you don't mind.

I recently purchased a motorcycle in the UK. Its 1 year old. Covered by a two year manufacturers warranty and brought it back to Ireland. Secure in the knowledge that it was still under warranty Europe wide.

Bike is in Donegal. Has broken down. Company is now demanding that I transport the bike to Dublin to be fixed/reviewed.

Any thoughts on this, where do I stand.

I think with a bike within warranty there should be a reasonable expectation that it doesn't break down and if it does the onus should be on the manufacturer to make it right?

It's a triumph by the way.

    Thanks.

Not sure about triumph, but other brands including ktm and bmw will also provide breakdown cover, and a replacement vehicle during the warranty period.

They will bring it to the official dealer if it cannot be repaired.

They have a number in the handbook.

They brought my bike 150km back to Dublin, and gave me a hire car to get me to my destination. Then collected the car and dropped the bike to my door when it was all fixed.

Check your documentation and get on to Triumph UK.

    Would Lisburn not be nearest?

Lisburn possibly would be closer, but I'm part time in Dublin, part time in Donegal which is why Dublin suits.

Called Triumph Dealer in the UK, they said that they would get a mechanic to diagnose over the phone on Monday, so will see what options they offer if it can't be fixed remotely.

    Thanks for the replies.

Good luck getting that from Triumph or their next door neighbours!

You wouldn't get the steam off their p!ss. I lost count of the times I walked home from the Dublin dealer after dropping various €20 grand plus bikes in for either warranty work or servicing.
