The Met Police is to hold an "urgent" review of a rape case after being accused of failing to disclose vital evidence.
Liam Allan, 22, was charged with 12 counts of rape and sexual assault but his trial collapsed after police were ordered to hand over phone records.
A computer disk containing 40,000 messages revealed the alleged victim pestered Mr Allan for "casual sex".
Prosecution barrister Jerry Hayes accused police of "pure incompetence".
The charges against the criminology student were dropped three days into the trial at Croydon Crown Court when Mr Hayes took over the case.

Nothing new - did the same thing to the Birmingham Six.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    gotto keep those stats up

Did you even read the OP, what stats, the failed prosecution stat? They had to keep that up? Or did you just see police mentioned and jump to your book of comments that will get the most "thanks"

In fairness, it is hinted at in the article:
"The trouble is everyone is under pressure... This is a criminal justice system which is not just creaking, it's about to croak," he said.

Also, the fact that the defense repeatedly asked for the records during the investigation but the police only submitted them when they were backed into a corner and forced to do, makes you think this goes beyond mere incompetence.

The irony that he's studying criminology.

    Captain obvious question:
I wonder how much time the false accuser will spend in jail for destroying two years of this man's life aside from attempting to ruin his entire life?

the uk cps re under pressure to increase rape convictions, remember these are the clowns that brought a case against a man who passed by an insane actress in a train station a year or 2 back. their DPP Alison Saunders is a bit of a feminazi apparently

This needs to be addressed. But the law rarely condemns wicked women. Sure it would only scare legitimate victims from coming forward. Apparently :pouty:
Also the process of running a man's name through the dirt before a trial even happens. What happened to innocent until proven guilty?
