This is ****ed up. There've been cases like this elsewhere, too. No sign of consequences for the woman or the clinic in that article.

But the court in Nara Prefecture ruled that, under Japanese law, the husband is presumed to be the father if the wife falls pregnant during the marriage - and the fact that they were separated did not matter.

just as a heads up , this is irish law too.

Interesting how consent goes out the window when it's the man who's ok the wrong end...

    Female priveldge...

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Any law which "presumes" a partner to be the father without any evidence is total bullsh!t and should be regarded as an egregious assault on human rights. However, I would also say that for the sake of safety, any guy whose relationship ends while he has frozen sperm or embryos out there should immediately take steps to ensure that they are destroyed, and leave no stone unturned in doing so.

Of course it shouldn't be that way, but the world we live in sucks in this regard and right now the only protection you have as a man is to make absolutely 100% sure that there's no possibility of any sperm or embryo with your DNA on it existing out there where you aren't in 100% control of what happens to it.
