I'm getting a bit sick of the Hilux getting stuck and saw there were some aftermarket kits available that you fit to the differential.

Are these any good? Most seem to be pneumatic and require a little compressor to be installed as well

For the price, I reckon all terrain tyres are better value to avoid getting stuck in light mud or on grass. Diff locks really come into their own if you are using a 4x4 offroad in forests or in boggy conditions.

If you can get hold of an LSD rear axle/diff from a breakers yard, it will probably work as well and be more reliable. I don't know if they were available on all years though but a quick google with your model and year should answer that.
