    Hi all,
Apologies if this has been asked Iv had look at previous post but I'm still unsure.
When I have shell house built and roof and windows doors in and its basically airtight I want to do following :

    1. Bring electrical cables from fuse board to outside for garden shed and for outside sockets and lights in driveway etc. How do people bring cables out and not comprise the air tightness of the house. Also they will intercom for electric gates and sky cable to a dish etc all breaking seal of house.
    3. When you do break seal house how can you be sure its air tight seal and whats best way of sealing house to make air tight again ?

Would it be better when pouring foundation have ducts running from electrical service room to out side and distribute cable from there where there would only be one break in seal of the house so to speak and seal the duct when complete?

Any advice would be much appreciated

    Thanks in advance,

As your in the trades and unwilling to pay an arch to advise, would you consider doing an air-tightness course?

I'm not sure what you mean with your reply ?

Im not in trades been over 12yrs since I was in trades

I will be employing a architect just trying do some research see what options people have been doing and using.

As regards air tightness course sounds good be worth while not sure I could commit I work full time Monday to Friday .

Should I post in different section ??

    Google air-tightness course, it’ll take a day.

I’d recommend a passive house assessment/design, then once you do the tender/construction details there are simple details to stop air coming in via either ground or through the air-tightness wall membrane.

Best of luck on your build

Saint Gobain do 2 courses on this. Their technical
Academy does a basic course then an advanced course where you get to do some hands on Work.

I brought all external cables in through one duct into our services room. One entrance in and out is easier to manage when it comes to sealing it.

This one duct was placed when the rising walls in the foundations were being built. It also gives you an inspection hatch external for all the different junction boxes/electrical stuff needed now and anything potential in the future.

Pick a central point external now. Run as many cables through it now and label them, include stuff like comms/TV/internet/gates/lights/external power sockets etc.
