I want to get a phone as a christmas present but it's getting a bit close to the wire for guaranteed christmas delivery. Do the networks own shops sell sim free? I looked on carphone warehouse but they have a very small range and next to nothing in my price range. Looking for a basic low/mid range phone.

The person is with meteor/eir and doesn't want to upgrade and have to enter a new contract.

You could buy an Eir PAYG phone and their Eir contract SIM will work in it.

Other than that, Harvey Norman now do SIM-unlocked phones but I imagine they have a similar range to Carphone Warehouse.

    What is your budget?

A lot of people (including myself) got the P8 lite for around 100, and it can be unlocked to any network for less than a fiver.

Cheers for the replies. Went with a Nokia 3 in Argos for €119.

If you had access to a voucher from Dunnes ValueClub mailing, you could pick up a Nokia 3 from Vodafone for €50 and they're unlocked too so can be used on any network.
