    Hi,
Any advice greatly appreciated. 04 Mondeo 140,000 miles, engine has become loud almost like diesel. Last week car would stall when going into first. Brought to mechanic all electronics were fine- kept car for a couple of hours drove it around without any problems. They did clean out the throttle. BUT here is the issue they reckon the loudness is being caused by the timing chain and possible the oil pump is not pumping to top of engine???. Approx cost to repair given €1000. Is it worth getting repaired?? It has been driving fine since other then the engine loudness.

Definitely not. Look at Donedeal. The most they go for is a grand. Drive her in to the ground I'd say or put up for a couple of hundred and a mechanic might buy it

Theyre worth nothing even when they have no problems. Drive it till it dies and then see if you can get a few quid scrap value for it as no one will want it.
