Raised Toilet

My 89 year old mother has just had her gallbladder removed. She will be another few weeks in hospital before she will be allowed home. My problem is that the toilets she has at home are standard size. I'm wary of the plastic fit over toilet seats as I've heard bad things about them. I would prefer to buy two new toilets that would be suitable for people with mobility issues.

Would anyone know where the best place to source these would be? I'm in Dublin. Many thanks.

About 4 years ago,we got a toilet plinth that you screw into floor and sit existing toilet on it securely with small bolts,it raised it by 3-4 inches I think, fantastic job,it was for my elderly father in his own house,we had to order it from England and delivered no problem, cost about £50-60 at the time I think, the water pipe from cistern and waste pipe would have to be cut to size as well to allow for height difference

My mother used one of those plastic raised seats, with a handle either side, for about 10 years after her stroke, and there were never any issues. Maybe try one before you go to a lot of expense?

We were given one of the raised seats with the adjustable handles free from the stroke rehab unit. Ask at the hospital - it should be part of the assessment before your Mum comes home

Thanks, I got one of these on Adverts. Never been used. Works great. The hospital also gave me a raised toilet seat for the other bathroom which is also working out very well. Mum doing great now :)
