Looking for a budget Android phone to upgrade from an original Moto G.

    Must haves:

    Android (obviously!)
    Screen size, minimum 5 inch
    Minimum 16GB Memory
Micro SD slot supporting at least 64GB micro SD
    Sim free and unlocked

It doesn't need a top notch camera but semi decent would be nice.

Not averse to Chinese phones but want something with a decent build quality and must be unrooted out of the box.

    Budget, under €300.

Phone will be be used for YouTube, Netflix, web browsing, photos, some gaming... And you know... Phone calls :)

    Thanks in advance.

I got the Moto G5s Plus from Amazon.it a couple of months ago for about €250.
    Very happy with it!

How do you find the camera? Reviews report serious shutter lag, even when focused... I own the Moto G4Plus myself, this would be for my wife. The G4 shutter speed is fine but the reviews point to this being worse than the G4. Do you notice a lag?

If your worried about the shutter lag you could look at the moto g5 (€170 including delivery on amazon uk) or g5plus (€240ish on amazon italy)

Any experience with the brand? Always a bit wary of these ultra cheap, yet high spec phones. Where's the catch?

I have an order of a Xiaomi Mi A1 for the GF on the way. It gets good reviews and comes in at 215->250 depending on where you purchase. Can't comment on the quality yet, but looks promising.

ive no idea of that brand to be honest.
reviews seem goodi have purchased cheap Chinese (Indian) phones before and found them to be great value for money. i bought my son a Ulefone Tiger 4G for €77 from china a few months ago and its an excellent phone for that price.

i have a Mi A1 myself, got it yesterday, and must admit i find it a great phone so far. Build quality is very good, im coming from a xperia E1 and find the A1 so much better. Its way faster, the camera is excellent, fingerprint quick and consistent. the swap over of apps, logs, message setc from my previous phone was quite easy.

I find it ok, can't say I've had many issues but I wouldn't be the biggest expert in the world regarding LG or shutter speeds.
It does a decent enough job for me.
