    Hi guys,
I asked a similar question in a different thread a little while ago, but thought this question needed a new thread.......
My mechanic was giving my Citroen C4 Grand Picasso an awful bad mouthing, saying they give awful trouble after a while (mine's 2010). When mentioning we were thinking of upgrading he said to be aware that the same engine features in quite a few other cars. We were thinking of the Ford Grand C-Max, but see now that the same engine is used in that car. I would have thought that a Ford is a better\more reliable car in general than the Citroen, but is this engine known for causing problems in them? How much of the problems that Citroen\Peugeot are known for are due to that engine in particular, or just the overall build quality of the car? Is it likely that the same engine in a Ford car, with maybe better components working with the engine & assembled better would mean its a more reliable car?

    Thanks in advance

Think the main issue with those engines is the long service interval. If buying one get one with low mileage and use low sulphur oil changing every 10k. There a good engine just some people don't maintain them.

I have one with 260k km and is purring like a cat. I diy change the oil every 10k. I replaced the DPF at 250k.
IMO any mechanic writing off that entire engine range is talking horse manure.
