Better Watch Out.

Better Watch Out had me thoroughly disliking it by the end, although thats probably the intention of it. I don't like horror films, it should be said, and I thought this was a comedy of sorts for some reason, and I didn't see a single trailer or screen of it other than the promotional poster before watching it in the cinema.

The twist was kinda smart, and best left unspoilt, the two main performances were excellent, the male performance more so than the female, without giving anything away. I've seen it described as inverted home alone, but I don't think thats accurate at all, its closer to... I'm just trying to think. The second purge film? Also I hate Christmas stuff and aesthetics being used for a film like this, it just feels incredibly wrong. Again thats obviously the point, but it rubbed me up the wrong way.

So I didn't like the film, but I think it works in what it attempts to do, has some excellent twists and performances from its main characters, so I'm finding it a little difficult to recommend.

Also it came in the US last year I think and its been available to watch online for longer than that, so possibly old.

I saw a trailer for this and was quite looking forward to catching it, but it has had a really odd distribution in the UK - like, several of the larger chains have it but have just fired it randomly at different areas with no discernible pattern, and literally no cinemas in my city are showing it. (And, while I think I'd like it, I'm not willing to travel just to see it).

Shudder acquired the rights to the film in the Us, UK and Ireland which is why it is getting a small release. It's available on the US Shudder already and will be coming to Shudder over here in the coming months, I expect to see it there before Christmas is over. I quite liked it when I watched it a while back, it's nothing truly original but much like The Babysitter it's an easy to watch time killer with some good moments and a nice demented sense of mischief.

    I thought it was great.

Like the OP, I wasn't really aware of the story and just knew it was a horror of sorts.

@OP I think you should edit your post a little.

Imo I just think you could leave out the mention of
    twists
