Hi, I recently bought a Seagate hard drive to record from the Samsung TV, it was working fine and has recorded lots of programs, however now when I try recording it keeps saying portable device disconnected. The hard drive is connected and the TV will play recordings from it, it's only when I try recording I keep getting the portable device disconnected message. Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you

My Dad gets a similar problem with his Seagate HHD

Power off the TV from the wall for about 10 mins

    That usually fixes it

If you go into the drive via source on the TV and have a look around there under tools (top right) I think there is an option to test the drive and maintenance (don't format). Beyond that format is possibly the only way to go unless you can plug in a second recording device and not break the linkage to the first one
