I have been offered by the company I work a new leaf at the end of the year. I am due a pay increase of 5.5k from next year, instead of paying this they will pay for the payments on new leaf (I lose about 2.6K net but my diesel is 3k per year). Unfortunately because of budgets it has to be sorted by the end of the year so I cannot wait for the new leaf.

At the moment my commute is 135km in total, so I presume a 30kvh leaf is fine for the range. I won't be able to charge at work, but there is a fast charger 5mins away.

I have been quoted 28K for a SV with the 6kwh charger. Any thing else I should be looking for , anything else essential I am missing?

28k is too expensive for a 30kWh leaf. That's Ioniq money.
    Here's a 162 for 18k

Does it have to be brand new?

Presume the co is going with BIK on EV. The payments will be simply an expense to the co. You will have no BIK issues. Drive as much as you like, just pay for the leccie. If you had leccie from work, you'd be flying, altogether. No cost motoring.
Would have to be a new car IWT.

Important question... will you be able to charge at home?
If not, you are going to be very frustrated with no home or work charging. Using the rapid nearby will be a nightmare long term so you REALLY need home charging.

Crazy money. The 30kWh Leaf is on its last legs. What you are buying is literally the very last of the stock (production has finished months ago). €28k is full price. You need to negotiate several thousand off that price otherwise "you" will be taking a big depreciation hit when the new one is available in 3-4 months time at much the same price.

There must be big scope for negotiation on that €28k as they have no hope of selling it at that price next year and I can't imagine they have a queue of people looking to buy this late in Dec.

It they'll let you grab one of the new Leafs due in February that would work out ideal.
    More power and more range.

Either the new or old Leaf will work fine for your commute and you'll save a packet on fuel etc. but the new Leaf will offer that little bit of extra usability outside work.

Not going to be able to wait until feb, I have an ICE worth nothing with an NCT due in Jan and about 2k in repairs, they have quoted for Crappage of 5k, so finance is around 23K. I've got the same quote from 2 dealers in the last week. I'll go back to them and ask them what they will sell it to me in Feb for!

Hire something or borrow, to cover the few weeks.

I know when I got company car I had to take it at list price, I could not negotiate down the dealer. The agreement was more or less I buy at ticket price, so price on web was the price I "paid". This was the number used for the BIK.....I guess you have the same?

    Couple of questions
How long do you have to keep the car?
Do you have home charging? can you expense the cost back? or will you need to charge at office?
Have you looked at Zoe? the additional range would be handy? or the Ioniq?

Can your job even provide an outdoor socket?
Granny charging during work hours may mean you wouldn’t have to stop and charge on the way home.

take the pay rise and sort out the car yourself, they are doing this to keep down core pay costs and thus keep down Employer (PRSI and any pension contributions)

the 135 return commute will work at <= c 85 to 90 real km/h but you need to sort out home charging, you cannot rely on the FCP

Exactly right. Payrise is far better. Employer pension contribution is calculated on salary with car payments excluded.
