Hi, I am a PAYE worker and also have a house I rent out. When filing tax returns do I have to pay preliminary tax on the rental income or can I just file returns for the previous year.
My accountant is currently filing preliminary returns but I have been told that I don't need to as I am a PAYE worker.

    Appreciate any assistance.

If you aren't registered as self assessed you don't pay prelim tax.

If your income after expenses is over 5K, you are obliged to register as self assessed. That's when prelim tax becomes a thing
