My husband and i were buying a house from his uncles, we signed contracts and deposited the full value of the property with our solicitor with an agreement we were closing on this Friday, she has sent our signed contracts to their solicitors. Last night we received a mail from the uncles saying they no longer want to sell.
Is there anything we can do? We agreed a price last Christmas and due to exchange rate fluctuations(we live in Sydney) have lost 20k buying the house along with the value rise of other property should we have purchased another property at that time, we are at significant loss probably to the tune of 100k or more.
Can we claim damages? or at least get them to cover solicitors fees?

    Had the sellers signed contracts?

    What does your solicitor say?

Doesn't seem like the seller has signed contracts from your post. Wouldn't think you've any comeback to be honest.
