Moto G5s - Slow since update

Anyone out there have a Moto G5 or G5s? I bought this less than a month ago and it was really nice and snappy. I know it's not a top of the range phone so I'm not expecting it to be the fastest phone but since I updated to the latest software it has become soooo slow. It lags when opening apps, doesn't respond to key presses, the keyboard is slow to pop up when going into different apps.

Anyone else experiencing this? Is a factory reset the way to go or is there some other way of boosting the performance/diagnosing the issue?

    Thanks.

    BTW I'm running 7.1.1

Ye I would factory reset it, I always do that after an update.
