just looking for a bit of advice here.
i was in my local shopping centre.
car parked in proper space. there was a gentleman changing a sign. the metal plate used to cover the sign slipped against my car causing a fair bit of damage . the most significent being a huge scratch along the side window.
i told the man , he gave me his card and i gave him my phone number and he said he'd ring me later. i couldn't stay long as i had to collect the kids.
just wondering if and who i should report it to.
    e.g.
shopping centre, guards, my insurance company etc?

Wouldn't most people working for places have insurance.

If this person gave you a card contact them and ask what they plan to do about the damage and they'll let you know

The primary defendant would be the party that was negligent i.e. the workman.

If the workman was an employee of a contractor at the time his employers are vicariously liable for his negligence.

Direct your claim in the first instance to the employer of the workman and ask for details of their public liability insurers.

BTW if they are independent contractors they might have the cheek to say that there are signs excluding liability for damage to vehicles using the car park. You can always tell them that you have no contract with them [the contractors] so you will not be entertaining that argument.
