OLED TV & Image burn in / retnetion

Considering upgrading my tv. Currently using a 6 yr old Samsung HD LED Smart tv and have no issues and picture quality is really good.

I was thinking of getting an OLED TV but then came across posts on the web concerning image burn in and image retention. I would just like to ask others who own OLED tvs what there experience has been like with these issues on their tvs?

My usage is maybe 2-3 hours a day Mon-Fri and maybe double that on weekends. I would usually be streaming tv shows or movies. I am not a gamer and do not watch DVD/BRs much.

As I understand it, image burn in /retention is caused by having static images on the screen for prolonged periods of time. The things that come to mind in my usage is some tv shows do not display on the whole screen and would have black bars on each side. Also some movies are in widescreen and would have black bars on the top and bottom.

This has caused no issues that I can see on my current tv but would not like to spend €1000+ on an OLED tv to end up with a ruined screen. So again, just wondering what the experiences have been of others who currently use these OLED screens?

Looking in to getting one myself. LG have published information on this themselves on their website, I can't link to it atm but if you google OLED screen burn it should show fairly high in results. Basically for everyday use its not a problem at all. The black borders certainly wont cause a problem as to achieve black the pixels are turned off completely. Screen burn arises from showing a stationary image for long periods of time, as in hours at a time. But even then by switching it off or showing moving images most of the screen burn will dissipate.
My concern is what they are like for motion. I have a Panasonic plasma still, around 8-10 yrs old. But I notice on a lot of the newer lcd tv's I see ghosting/motion blur. I've never once seen it on my plasma as it's around 100+hz display. I can't tolerate watching things with any blur or ghosting, drives me mad.
Which OLED you looking at getting. I was looking at the 55inch LG B7, but there is 500 quid cashback on the E7 starting in a few days which will put it in same price bracket. The E7 has a built in sound bar, but screens are identical aside from a few cosmetics.

I have had the LG E6 for a bit over 6 months now. Burn in with normal use seems to be a non-issue. I think the only possible case would be if you use it as a computer display with static desktop icons for hours at a time with no screensaver AND you turn off the tv's own screensaver. You'd really have to be trying.

Picture quality on this panel is eye-popping. It will ruthlessly expose any poor video encoding, especially posterization in darker images. Motion quality is fantastic as well. There is no panel blur to speak of. The only place where it falls down a little is if you turn on motion processing ("smooth motion") - it's not quite as good as the best Samsungs on this. I was also really impressed with the brightness of the panel. The newer LCD tvs are even brighter, but I was coming from an 8 year old Samsung and the boost was massive.

I'm very tempted to take the plunge. The LG 55 E7 from richersounds.ie is £2499 and you can claim £500 cash back from LG. They give you 6yr guarantee if you buy from them too.
