Car fuel tank showing empty but should be at least half full

    I was driving home in the snow last night and suddenly my low fuel warning light came on, last time i looked at the level on the dash was id say 20 minutes before and it showed it was half full. any one any idea what the problem might be?

    Could be the gauge or the sender. Fill car up and keep an eye on it.
    What car and year?

    Leak, or faulty sender unit.
