    Jaysas... it driving me nuts!

    Am using:

    Incoming SMPT : gpo.iol.ie
    Outgoing SMPT: mail1.eircom.net

    with NONE for encryption.

BUT ...Outlook saying that the outgoing SMPT is wrong!!

I am using the same details on another alias and that's working fine.

    Any help

Are you using Eir as your ISP otherwise the SMTP server won't work?

You need to use the one for whoever your ISP is.

OP, as above, what ISP are you on?

pop.iol.ie is actually a CNAME for gpo.iol.ie, it dates back to when An Post owned IOL. The server also responds as gpo.iol.ie when queried. So GPO is technically correct but either one works for insecure service. For secure POP or IMAP, you must use GPO or else you get a domain mismatch in the SSL cert.
