Where do you find this date?

Well i followed the info in a million youtube videos..

typed msinfo in and came up with this info in the System Information

    BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. F.46, 01/06/2017

It would seem that the BIOS/UEFI-firmware was updated since it was made.

I am unsure whether that date indicates Jan 6th or June 1 st ..... but either way it is 2017 firmware.

Look for "BIOS Version/Date" to see what version of BIOS software you're running, as well as when it was installed. Note that this will only indicate the manufacture date if you haven't updated the BIOS from the original version that came preinstalled on your system.
You sure you didn't update your BIOS

You either should have sticker/label on the case, or check on manufacturer Web site/ support line call by serial number.

well unless i updated the BIOS without knowing what i did.. as i wouldn't have a clue,..

    ill call them..

You could open the system and look at the chips. A lot of them will have date codes or serial numbers. Google the serials and you'll find out when they were made. Add 6-12 months and you'll get the approx system manufacture date.

Or contact the manufacturer with the system serial.....they should be able to tell you. Forget about those million youtube videos - waste of time unless they are legit.

What's the make of the laptop?

With Dell, for example, you input the ServiceTag into it's website, and it'll tell you when it was shipped from it's warehouse.

If this is original Windows installation, then

    1. open CMD
    2. type systeminfo
    3. hit ENTER on keyboard

Line with "Original Install Date:" will tell you when windows installed = there about your computer age.

Note: no good if you have reinstalled windows at any point of time

Why would you even need to call them?

"Hello, my laptop appears to have been time travelling, any advice?"

The date refers to the bios revision. Most brands have bios update tools that run within windows so it probably just automatically updated at whatever point a new bios became available.

Having discovered that you were looking at the BIOS/Firmware date, which has likely been updated since you bought the laptop, what else do you need to know?

There is often some relevant info on a label on the underneath of the device.

well im selling the laptop , and i just wanted to know when it was made, as i cant find much info on it..

Its a hp spectre that i bought from harvey norman last year, but most of what i can find online has the HP logo in gold on the front. Mine has the hewlett pakard name in gold...

so i was trying to find review or videos on that particular make, and i couldnt

Again, open it and look at the chips - they'll give you a hint with their manufacturer date

    Oops
Or give manufacturer a call/mail. They'll be able to date it for you in seconds.

Put the serial number in here for a guide, should give the manufacture date.
