Hi , excuse my lack of knowledge but I haven't a clue about satellite tuning etc .

I had to carry out a rescan on my freebie sat recently. Before this , I had all the sarview channels available to watch also , rte , tv3 etc.

After the rescan , these channels now come up with a padlock icon beside them , and when I try to watch rte 1 , it says scrambled

    Is there a fix ?

What are you using as a receiver?

Unless it's a combi box you won't get RTE etc on it and you'll need a separate feed from a UHF antenna for that. Is there a UHF antenna plugged into the box?

As all Saorview channels were available previously it must be a combi box.

Seems you have scanned the Satellite for channels and the Irish channels are encrypted on the Astra satellite - only decrypted when using a valid Sky subscription card. When scanning you might exclude all encrypted channels if you only want the Free To Air channels.

The Irish channels are available Free to Air using an aerial to receive the transmissions.
If your device has a DVB-T tuner with aerial feed then a separate (DVB-T) scan is needed to find the Irish channels.

But if we know what kind of combi box it might make it easier to find the missing channels....

    It's a revez combi box .
Sat cable and terrestrial cable both connected .

Before the rescan , rte was available to view

May seem obvious, but did you scan seperately for the Terrestrials?

    I don't know.
I just went into installation , and carried out an auto search for all channels.

How do I search for terrestrial channels ?

I checked for spec of combi box
Revez Q12, with dvb-t option included

    Terrestrial cable is attached

But when going through menus , installation, I don't see any options to scan for dvb-t channels only

I don't have one of these boxes, but I would expect you can find in the menu where to set up the terrestrial/aerial input for your area/transmitter, and when that is in you should be able to scan for channels.

You should be able to find directions in the manual ....... I have failed to find anything on line with a quick search.
