Cavity wall insulation

    Building a 200mm cavity wall was considering putting in two leafs of of 80mm Xtratherm to a total of 160mm insulation any advice on this .

    I'd imagine if you've gone with 200mm cavity you may have originally planned to pump the cavity with bonded bead?

    Still in planning but was planning to go with 150mm cavity therm but Xtratherm is considerably cheaper similar price to pumped cavity

    The cost difference will soon be absorbed in labour costs of fitting the Xtratherm, bear that in mind.

    Have beaten that in mind will be my own time as a bricklayer. Just looking for opinion if it is a good option

    Every insulation product is only as good as its installation. If your doing it yourself then no better way of ensuring correct fitment/full coverage.

    Id say choose as much as you can product wise that you can install yourself, great way of managing the pennies.

    you could pump the last 40mm as insurance?

    Can I ask did you have to thicken the inner leaf to wider block with a 200mm cavity?
