    Hey guys,

Has anyone tried salt therapy for their asthma? As in a salt therapy air purifier for home use? Usually you just place them in a room in the house ie - the bedroom for sleeping at night.

Have they worked? What brand do you use?

I have had a salt lamp or two in my time but found the effect limited to a close radius and relief temporary, i am no expert of course.. The longest lasting and most noticeable results were from a spa room in a hotel that was based on salts, think it was the radisson in galway.. I've never really looked into it further than that due to the expense and misinformation

Thanks. Can you remember what models or unit you have used in the past?

I see the "Salin" brand salt purifier being heavily advertised at the moment but have no idea on it's effectiveness.

I really can't remember, it appears to be all about negative ions attracting moisture from the air and the pollutants that are airborne with the moisture.. Plenty of research with health shops etc may help you.

You could try a few sessions of salt therapy itself and see does it help.

There is one in radisson in Galway and one in Clontarf in Dublin. I used both for my children with asthma, I found it decreased the amount of infections dramatically. I started them swimming lengths to build up their lungs, which I think is helping. They are still on inhalers all year round but we used to spend the whole winter going from one infection to the next.

    Indeed I think that's a good option.

I know there is one in Newbridge, Kildare which is in driving distance of me. Will look at giving it a shot before committing to purcahasing anything.
