Any chance of 1 day hire for a Model S or X?

In February I have an airport run, Galway (east)-Dublin return - 180km one way. Anywhere I could hire a Model S or X for this? There'll be 5 of us returning from the airport.

You're not giving us much here, rocky. Are you?

Why do you need it to be a rental car? Why do you want it to be an EV in general and a Tesla in particular?

Why a rental, as opposed to buying one? Price mainly :).

I realise they are thin on the ground in Ireland right now, but if there is a chance, someone here might know.

Tesla because of range, 360km should be doable without charge stops, no?

I very much doubt it is possibly to rent one. But you didn't answer my question why a Tesla?

You will not be able to do that range without charging unless you take it handy. Not a chance of doing it in any of them if you plan to drive at 120km/h (both points excepted when you have one of the 90 or 100 top models

Your only chance of getting one for a day would be to talk to the lads in Sandyford and get a 24h test drive. You might get lucky. It would be for free too :D

The one most people test drive these days is their UK plated 90D and yes that will do the range no bother, at speed ;)

0-100km/h in just over 4s. And that car is not the fastest Tesla and doesn't even have ludicrous mode. Nice!

    Tesla because:
    - range. Not posibile to do the journey without charging, except when it is :).
    - size. 3 adults and 2 teenagers with their luggage won't really fit comfortably in any electric car except in an S or X. The S is 10cm wider than my E60, plus the frunk etc.

While the Teslas have impressive drive trains and batteries, I would probably not buy one based on interior quality reviews, would feel like a downgrade. But hey, who knows, that's why I want to test drive one.

I see there's no supercharger on the Galway - Dublin route, presume they have an alternative charging solution , A.C. 10+kWh?

You still haven't said why it has to be a Tesla / electric car. Why don't you rent a minibus?

Oh, I thought that part was clear enough, for the novelty and I'm interested in electric cars - but wouldn't buy a new one with my 6k km a year.

Don't need to rent anything, the E60 will cover me for this trip.

I thought about talking to Tesla about one of their cars, the only minor issue is I'd need to get the bus to Dublin, do Dublin-Galway return, then take the bus back down. Worth looking into.

    Thanks for clarifying!

Why don't you just book a test drive for yourself in Sandyford? That's free. Drive your trusted E60 up and down there ;)
