I am looking for a garage that has still got the old style air pump for tyres, hopefully one I don't have to pay for. Anybody know of one. The last two that had them have just removed them.

Becoming more of a rarity these days as they get treated like crud by the punters and have to be maintained.

There should still be one in the petrol station opposite the Spinnaker.

That was my last go to one, but was gone last week, hopefully it will be replaced.

    Thanks

I never pay and have used Apple Green not very long ago. Well, you deposit a euro.

I bought a decent bicycle track pump a few years ago and have never looked back...

I have no problem with deposit, will try apple green.

I have a track pump, just assumed it wouldn't work. It should handle the pressure without any issue, I can think of.

You might invest in a compressor i've one go it in aldi was very reasonable and its as handy as a small pot

I like to check the pressures a lot i'm a bit funny about tyres so it saves me going to a petrol station

Agree. I have 2 aldi compressers . one is 13 years old and still flying it despite doing a lot of work .

A piece of advice is to buy a cigarette lighter compresser for a tenor.
It can get you out of trouble . in 20 years of driving ive never changed a car wheel on the side of the road

I use Apple Green all the time (last time 2 days ago) and never had to pay a euro deposit.

Is this something they introduced in the last 48 hrs?

Assuming there is more than one apple green in Galway?

Such a shame people were to lazy to just put them back. Hate the new air compressor at my local station. Dont even mind the euro (seriously though, a euro???) but the machine is woeful

Maybe I got it mixed up with another station. I use a lot of them.

The cynic in me can't help but fail to understand setting up a thread and driving all around Galway in order to save €1 on pumping tyres?

I don't exactly pump my tyres once a day so surely the cost is negligible?

It is €1 we are talking about.....:D

Think about it, if your too stingy to get a slow puncture fixed then your the sort who doesn't want to pay for air and then also the same person who never winds back the airhose or who will drive over it or let it thrown there for the next eejit to drive over it. I do a quick walk around my car twice a month, check tyre pressure with my digital tyre pressure gauge and top up the coolant, windscreen washer as required and dip her for oil while i'm there. A quick 5 mins to do it but three quarters of the cars on the roads don't see such basic care and attention for them.
