I saw that add Donedeal and googled the number on the unit. It looks like a chinese import.

I often thought of using a Crane Scales and welding up a frame to hang onto it.

I'd like to get a scale, handy when selling bulls to know their weight. Maybe Santa will be good!

i got it this year, i had 9ft by 28inch wide H-iron at home that i put on it as platform. i welded few pieces on to platform to stop it moving.
My problem is that my own crush is too narrow and cattle touching off side so reading jumps little bit (+/-10kg). But ill make cage for it over Winter months to steady her up. No problem with lighter cattle though.

When you can buy scales at €1400 & claim vat back (as it will be fixed), why pay for bars & build platform after.
Least with proper you can ring manufacturers if something goes wrong

They won't give You the vat back on a weighing scales, tried it ok but revenue sent it back. Maybe some of the bigger crate types can be classified as fixed.

Also if you want to claim it back on Tams you must spend €2000 before you get grant

Just stumbled across this. For the money I might invest and make up my own platform

thats more or less same as the auto supply. you'll be almost paying double that price with taxes and delivery unless you going for a little drive

Jaysus, is it elephants or cattle you are weighing?

    :D:D

elephants might be easier to get into the crush. H-iron was in corner of shed for 30 years. about time it did some work.
