Applying for new Permit

    Hi there.

Do you have to hand over your current permit when applying for your new one in the NDLS office? Mine hasn't expired yet and won't for a little while but I'd rather get it over and done with and apply for my new one just to be safe. However I obviously don't want to be without my permit as I can't practice or drive at all until the new one arrives (2 weeks or so yeah?). Will they take my current one off me when I re-apply or can I hold onto it and chuck it in the bin and replace it with the new one when it arrives myself?

    Thanks.

If it's in date (by any time at all), they give it back; if it's out of date, they'll take it.
