If I do a second Masters, do you have to pay higher fees for doing a previous masters

    Hi Guys,

Just looking for advice. I am applying for a springboard course that is a MSc. If I chose to do another masters in a few years time, would the normal masters fee apply for the college or do you have to pay further fees cause it is your second masters?

For example, my friend did 2 undergrads. She paid the normal €2,500 registration fee for her first undergrad but had to pay over €7,000 for the second undergrad. Does a similar process apply with postgrads?

    Would love some advice, thanks.

There is no "increased fee" for doing multiple degrees. You just stop getting subsidised after the first one.

She had to pay >€7,000 because that's what the course actually costs. The free fees initiative only applies to the first course, where the course fees are paid for by the state and you only pay registration fees.

Springboard seemingly acts in the same way. You are no longer progressing because you're applying for a second degree at the same level, hence you wouldn't qualify. So you'd have to pay the normal fee.

Yes thanks for your response. I am aware of why she had to pay higher fees, I just wanted to know whether masters are subsidised or not. The springboard course is a level 9, so I just wanted to know do I still only pay the normal fee that everyone pays to do another level 9 masters.

    Thanks

you would't have to pay any extra if you decide to do the second masters after your springboard masters.

Thank you for your clear, kind answer! I have since gotten accepted for the course!
