Is buying a Higher end Bmw,merc or Audi diesel a bad move to make at the moment.
    im talking 530,435,e350 etc

Obviously These cars are going to deppricate Significantly over 3 years but given the hoorah about EV/hybrid will they be worth even less in 3 years and will anybody want them if they are penalised/taxed out of the market .

I think your alternative being Lexus will probably depreciate even harder. Don’t know if Tesla have something in that segment but I had heard of uncertainty about their future. Not sure how accurate that is.

These cars have always depreciated heavily from new, more so than their lower powered versions. I don’t think it is any worse now than previous.
If you could get a 6 month old one in from uk you would make a big saving. Diesel sales are hugely down over there recently.

yep Thats right carsfan.UK market hugely down in high end diesels which given the RHD set up will surely be a big influx of these over the next year or so.

Dealer offering me 1 year old with 9000miles for excellant value but im just thinking long term.

Some good value in a 2 year old Jaguar XF 300bhp 3.0d dealers asking around £25k. With the UK plate change in March I'd say those prices will drop a good bit further too.

What sort of deal compared to new?
PM if you don’t want to say. I would love a g30 530d myself at the right money.
I would not worry for the next few years. Diesel still has a market I reckon and we are always a few years behind the curve on legislation. Depends also how long you mean by long term. Less than five years no problem but ten maybe but any car is pretty worthless at that stage.

I would second that, these cars lose a lot of value and always have but if you buy a fresh example with a big discount you’ll do okay.

assume you mean new or nearly new cars! go for the ten year old plus ones and they are being given away...
