    Hi
    Quick query on eflow.
Received an online bill, that i was up in Drogheda.
Car was sitting in the driveway.

    Queried it with eflow,
no, your car made the journey,
do you have a photo of the car, no.

And so it went round in circles, your tag was recorded on the M1.
I gave up when she suggested my car was stolen and that could be the reason.
Not the tag, the whole car.

Gave her the details from the tag, yes that the tag that was on the M1.
She passed it on to another Dept to investigate.

She refused to deactivate the tag as their was an investigation in place.

How easy is it to clone a tag?.
More importantly has eflow data been compromised.

Anyone experience these issues with eflow.

    Sean

Did you make the journey at any stage in the previous week or two?
It's happened the odd time that one of my journeys doesn't appear on the correct date but instead appears a few days later and it always seems to happen with the Drogheda toll booths.

I wouldnt have been in Dublin for over a year, let alone Drogheda.
It was just the attitude, no, the system says you made the journey, you made the journey.
To get to Drogheda I would have passed 3 more tolls

Eflow are usually easy to deal with. Can you ring them again and speak to a manager?

Cant ring them back at the moment.
When i did ring customer service, all i wanted to hear was, I will look into it and get back to you.
    That would have been fine.

The call descended into farce, firstly the tag is right your wrong, maybe your car was stolen.
When i asked the question, if the tag was right, how did my information get on to it.
The mantra was repeated, the tag was recorded on the M1.

Just wondering is this common with the tags, with a licence plate i could understand a mistake.

tbh if I had to make statement for easiest to deal company with in Ireland - eflow would be one.
I was once charged penalty for not paying M50 even though I paid and they sorted it 2 hours after I wrote to them.

I assumed that eflow scans for: Numberplate + Tag

    Checks records and:
[If tag matches plate] = Charge eflow account.
[otherwise] = Charge plate (so you have until next day 20:00 PM to pay).

I could be wrong though as I made up this bull**** theory years ago.

I will be honest the response from the customer service rep had me floored.

Was the car stolen, eh no its sitting in the driveway. your tag your journey.

Checked online, the tag was recorded at 4am.

Eflow will take 2 weeks to investigate.

An incorrect licence plate ok but I have never heard of this happening with a tag

This was the M1, no number plate recognition nor billing to number plates.

As far as I know there is CCTV there as in crime investigations you will hear the vehicle (pronounce that bit in a Garda accent :D ) was seen going through the M1 toll and not just registered at the gate, they will have a description of it. i.e in the case of a stolen trailer and goods.

It is not for billing purposes and, unlike the M50, you don't have a grace period in which to pay.

yeah thats why i said it was cctv as opposed to anpr. It might be useful to the OP as a defense for him/her. Whilst it not there for billing purposes it is there nonetheless and If they were told to go check against it they might back down.

    Just an update,

Customer service got back to me.

    Tags cant be cloned,
Google and the hacker collective must be wrong.

What was suggested, was the tag was manually entered incorrectly.

I dont know the layout of the M1, but if i was rocking by at 4am, i dont think i would be taking the tag off
    and finding the serial number.

They passed it on to the toll road in question.

Nobody is going to check CCTV records over few euro charge.

You just need to make sure the car was not there. Any family members, friends etc who have access.

If the car was not there refuse to pay and let them prove it. Any cost incurred including wasting your time should be paid by the operator.

Just make sure your tag was not there at the time.
