    Hi,
I have a QQI level 6 qualification. Am I entitled to BTEA on a Level 7 or 8 course in a different field?

    Thanks

Assuming you've also got the 39 weeks on a qualifying payment, then, yes, you are. They don't mind if your next course of study is in a different field, only that you're moving up to a 7 or 8 (or level 9, if you're doing a HDip in teaching)

    From schemes section of Welfare.ie.
In general, BTEA should only be approved where the course of study leads to a higher qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications other than that already held by the applicant.
