Back when I was starting secondary school, I had to try on my uniform in front of 3 middle-aged men in a communal fitting room. Do any shops still have communal fitting rooms today ? when did they start to disappear from shops ?

I did go into a fitting room in a shop before and it was very large so I suppose it might have being made for more than one person.

OP was it an altar boy interview you went for and have since confused with going to a shop?

Penneys in Galway used to have one of those years ago, funny now to think of it. No way would that sort of thing be tolerated nowadays, the way the world has gone.

Though saying that, there's a fair amount of changing rooms that have a communal full-length mirror which means you have to step out and parade yourself in front of an audience to get a proper view of yourself. River Island springs to mind, there's often a choir of bored boyfriends staring at you and it can get uncomfortable. That or you get stuck with one of those crap curtains that never pulls the full way so the whole room can see you change through the sizeable gap at the side.
