iTunes Christmas movie promotion??

    Hello,

Sorry if this the wrong forum but I figured people talking about movies would know more about this than folks in the tech sections.

On Friday, I saw a header in the iTunes movie store of a promotion called " 'Tis the Season - 31 days, 31 offers " and day was a choice of movie bundles, 10 for €10 (I think) .

When I checked again late on Saturday the header was gone.

Does anyone know what happened? Why did Apple stop the promotion?

I looked up the UK store as they are always basically the same and the campaign is still running there. They had a Kubrick boxset on sale at the week end and today is Deadpool for a fiver.

I tried Apple support but all I get is that "Apple doesn't control the price of content". The support agents don't seem to be able to grasp what I'm asking about.

Anybody have any info or been able to get further with Apple Support?

    Regards

What was sorted? The promotion didn't seem to apply to Ireland. The first i seen was the Bourne identity advised on the irish store for £3.99, but clicking into it bring you to the irish price of €9.99.

I meant sorted as in I got to the bottom of why the promotion was removed.

The sale does indeed apply to Ireland and we are supposed to be getting the same offers as the UK but someone, or group, at Apple made a complete bags of sorting out the legalities of DMRs, price cuts, etc. - I don't quite understand but the friend of a friend knows someone working at Apple who said was a their screw up.

No-one will admit it though - any support agent I spoke just gave me the run around and I just got an email saying "my case" has been escalated to engineers and will take longer than a normal tech support case.

I've been told this is means they aren't bothered to sort it out because we aren't that big a market.

A very unusual and uncharacteristic display from Apple and very disappointing. Although very few Irish customers seemed bothered either as I think they only had one or two besides myself, so I can't say that they are wrong to save themselves the effort.

I did actually fire off an email just to remind them of which store they were advertising in. Over the past couple of months i have built up my library in iTunes movies as some of their weekly offers and Disney promotions are actually very good value. I hope they introduce something anyway.

I had wondered my myself if it was just a mistake in the headers, but apparently the tech side went full steam ahead with the promotion like they were supposed to unaware that someone else had dropped the ball.

I've been building up a library in the same way because the prices are good and the extra content is mostly the same as on the blu-rays. Plus it saves space on the shelves.

It is disappointing that it happened.

on a related note, been monitoring a UK forum where tehy post itunes deals. over teh last 2 days they have had die ahrd at 1.99 (11.99 euros on irish store) and John wick 1/2 for 9.99 (11.99 each on the irish site)

i thought we were supposed to have standardized pricing with the uk...but it looks like we get few if any of these deals.

I'm not sure what's going on with this but there's been lots of great deals over the past few weeks in fairness; they had a tonne of movies for 1.99 (HD) and they then ran a promo for 4K movies starting at €2.99 up to €6.99 and I grabbed the following:

    Lincoln @ €1.99
    Predator @ €1.99
    Scrooged @ €3.99
    LA Confidential @ €4.49
    The Revenant (4K) @ €3.99
    X-Men Apocalypse (4K) @ €3.99

That is not a "related note" but rather exactly what this thread is about.

Die Hard and the John Wick movies were both part of the Christmas deals promotion. The same promotion that was not properly handled by Apple on the Irish Store.

Ireland and the UK are pretty much the same region as far as home releases of movies go. I often look on the UK iTunes to compare it to the Irish Store and both have always been exactly the same for price drops, release dates, movie of the week, etc.

If you contact Apple support all you will be told is the "promotion is not available in the Irish Store". If you ask why not or why it was posted on the Irish Store for two days they will just repeat "it is not available on the Irish Store" over and over. They will not tell the truth.

Those deals have been offered on the UK store and most other European stores.

No one is denying that there is often good offers on the iTunes Store.

However, the Christmas price promotion is SUPPOSED to be on the Irish Store but Apple messed it up.
