More specific: the third generation ED3 model (not the newest model that came out this years)

You can buy one for a touch over £6k in the UK for a late 2013 model, meaning you could land it here for €7k

74BHP but only 900kg, so should be reasonably nippy and efficient even though it only has a 17.6kWh battery giving a NEDC range of 145km, EPA just over 100km

What AC charging does it have? Any DC fast charging or was this an option? Even without DC charging, would make a nice modern cheap runabout that should cost nothing to own apart from a few shekels in tax and insurance? I presume these don't have battery lease, but all of this is pretty hard to find.

    pre-2011:

16.5kWh Tesla-designed 18650-based pack (EV-West in the US sells modules from the US Smart ED)
    No DC rapid charging
    3.3kW onboard charger
20kW motor with a boost mode that increases power by 50% for a few minutes
    ~100km EPA

    post-2011:

17.6kWh Deutsche Accumotive (Daimler subsidiary) pouch cell-based
    No DC rapid charging
    7.4kW onboard charger
    55kW motor
    ~110km EPA

Yeah I'm talking about the post 2011 model (the production model that was for sale, not just through lease / rental companies)

No DC is disappointing, but 7.4kW onboard is helpful on the odd trip that would exceed 100km. There's a Brabus sportier version with more power and which is a good bit quicker too (0-100km/h in 10s - probably quite quick 0-50km/h which matters far more). A lot of EV for your money then if you only need a two seater? The normal one comes in Cabriolet version too :D

Rather good vid from an owner

    You sure it's 7.4kW charging, cros13?

Kinda cute car, wouldn't mind hopping over to the UK and bring one home, drive it for a bit and then sell it on with minimal loss (depreciation). How's that for a plan?

Nope. Conflicting sources. Now that I double checked it's a 3.3kW too.

    The 2017 has a 7.4 and the new 2018 will get (Renault's?) 22kW charger.

I'm still pining for a twizy... partially for the fun factor.... partially to win a bet with a mate.

Yeah it looked like a 3.3kW to me.

On both counts, go for it :D Can you buy one without the dreaded battery lease, at all?

You can buy one direct from Renault Norway with no battery lease.
Seeing as there is no LHD/RHD difference.

Occasional second hand ones with no battery lease come up but they are rare.
I'm also an admirer of the Twizy but herself would kill me.
