Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

Going to Riga for a long weekend this weekend with my other half - both in late 20's. Main reason we are going is for the Christmas markets. Hopefully we get some snow and cold, and not the rain!

Is there anyone that has been to Riga with any advice - suggestions on where to go / not to go?
Anywhere outside of the parks / cathedral / house of the blackheads ?
    Advice about locals etc.
Is it actually cheap or pretty much the same as here, or vary on location to location?

    Thanks in advance.

Go visit one of their 'Lido' restaurants. Dirt cheap and lots of Latvian specialities.

There is a huge one just outside the city centre. Can't remember what bus - possibly number 12, but it's only a short taxi ride anyway.

The Central markets in the Zeppelin hangars are amazing. They put us and our wrinkled green peppers in Supervalu to shame.

Very nice city with an excellent Christmas market. Obvious tourist haunts can be pricey. Go off the beaten path.

Make sure to try their garlicky fried dark bread. Great with beer or vodka.
