Land registry -- application abandoned

The management company that I'm involved with, allowed a way-leave to be registered to a neighbour, in return for a strip of land to be transferred from the neighbour to the management company.

The solicitor who did the work, emailed the management company in October '12 saying that "the stamping is completed and the transfer has been lodged in the land registry/pra under dealing number D
    D"

When I look up the dealing number today, the application status reads "Application abandoned (11 Nov '13)"

Before I approach the solicitor who was looking after it, I'd like to understand more about the application status.

    What would 'application abandoned' mean?

Thanks for that, makes sense now.

If I contact the Land Registry, will the tell me the circumstances around it?
