    Anybody on here ever put a 1.3 turbo engine from a starlet/glanza into a 1.1 Peugeot 106?

Engine is on it last legs in the 106 and was thinking of swapping the engine but not sure if it will fit or cause alot of headaches, and if your wondering why not just buy a starlet or glanza it's obviously for insurance purposes!

1.6 out of a 106 gti or Saxo vts would be the best choice I'd have thought. Plenty of info online and rakes of parts available at handy enough money.

A 4efte will need some serious wiring changes and a very good stand-alone ecu to have a hope of working in a 106 and all of this costs big money not to mention all the custom fab work to physically get it in there in the first place.

Insurance is another can of worms altogether...

I'd say a glanza would be easier to insure than a 106 with a turbo engine swap.

I'd say it'd be a nightmare to take on. Custom everything. You'd need to be doing everything yourself for it to be financially viable and be good at welding and fabricating as well as electronics and wiring.

That and a good condition Glanza turbo engine with all ancillaries, gearbox and loom would probably set you back €1k these days. Be cheaper to buy another 106.

Any 106 GTi or saxo vts I have gone to look at has serious milage on them, there was a couple glanza engines at my local garage for sale with gearbox & ECU for sale with 95,000 on one, if milage was true or not I don't know and he only wanted 600 for the lot

I'd not pass much notice of milage tbh if you're buying from a reputable breaker they'll stand over the engine. The 4efte being 600 is just the 1st of many outlays before you'd have a functioning 4efte 106.

A quick Google shows a tu3 1.4 from any number of Peugeot or Citroens from the late 90's would be your cheapest upgrade. 95bhp and very cheap. Most likely goes in pretty easily too and anything around 100bhp will be plenty to have some fun in a car as small and light as a 106

Engines are easy to remove from a 106 anyway
