Hi this is the first year I have used the my revenue site to claim health expenses. It wasn't clear (to me) if I needed to enter the total amount I spent per year or whether I was to calculate 20% (the relief) of the total amount and enter that? I entered the total amount I spent per annum was that correct???

Correct. You input the total amount you spent in the year you are claiming. The system will calculate your pay and tax to include an additional tax credit of 20% of the health expenses
