APT Timer - working/not working

What would be the reason for my APT timer to stop working, when I unscrewed the timer from the wall and then re-screw the timer to the wall it started working again - happy days - so this morning when back to rescrew a screw I hadn't completely put back in the night before and it's not working again. The timer is moving the whole time but the light is not coming on. Is it kaput or could it be something like a loose connection?

I have had to replace five of these apt timers at less than two years old, the motor just stops working, the force required to make the switching action seems to be more than the motor can handle, especially if there are more than one on / off actions in a 24 hour period.

I have one older one that is doing fine, I am beginning to think they changed the motor type around the end of 2018.
It's not as if these are the cheapest timers on the market at around €36 each.

The old Philips plug in timers are still working after twenty years.
