Would be interested to hear from anyone who was at it too. Lot of bulls seem to be left out on the Facebook prices. Will always be bulls entered but not there but wondering if many bulls just not sold on the day?

Was talking to a man that was at it, he said a lot of bulls not sold and he was talking to a scottish man who came over to buy a bull and was disappointed with the quality on offer, he didnt get one.
Is the genomics scheme having a negative affect on the charolais breed.

Was at the heifer sale a couple of weeks ago and the same thing with a lot of animals not present that was in the sale booklet, a lot of the heifers lacked length and style, the top price on the day was a Donegal heifer from roughan and yesterday the top bull was from roughan and all bred the French way with bone, length, muscle, and most of all style

See on the Charolais website most of the biggest prices were from Nothern buyers.

See 2 bulls were bought for AI (NCBC & Dovea)

"In what was described as one of the best show of Charolais bulls seen at the Christmas Cracker for some year's, 63 bulls sold to an average of €4,580. Buyer's were extremely selective in their choice of bulls, resulting in some meeting a wonderful trade and other's finding it difficult to get moving."

    Quote from Charolais website.

Is there anyone on here who was actually at the sale? Would be interested to hear what slow to get moving meant - were bulls being withdrawn at 3K or getting no bids at all?

The Bull NCBC bought is very terminal. 12.5% CD too. A lot of CF52 sons out there too so I'm wondering what was their tactic in buying him:

I know of some limousin bulls which were unsold at the premier sale in Roscrea recently but were sold at home shortly afterwards.

Did they end up making more or less than Roscrea?

They made more, wasnt there over 170 bulls at Roscrea and not enough buyers for them.
Its an expensive business getting bulls ready for those society sales, is it worth it for a lot of them.
