What if any tests do you use for testing antibiotics? I use the snap tests but find them hard to read.
    Any recommendations?

Use the delvo test kit in work. I'm not sure but I'd say it's probably expensive. Seems pretty reliable though.

Use the delvo test here. The snap test dosent catch all antibiotics.

Down side of delvo test it takes 3 hours

Use Charm test here. It's a 3 minute test. It's the same test as in the trucks.

Tried Snap but hard to read

Stopped using Delvo as too slow

    Recommend Charm

    Third time's a charm.

Driver on milk collection told me Glanbia Use delvo test on all milk regardless of result of charm test or snap test if there is a problem with milk.

I just bring a sample into the plant in Drogheda if I'm in any doubt

Might be a bit far for someone from cork or kerry!

One Lorry driver wouldn't do a snap test for me on tank, have a delvo kit but it does take too long. Tbh I take sample to macroom now if any doubt on tank, if just an individual cow quick test is fine

Surely if just an individual cow with only slight trace of antibiotics if say 20 litres goes into 3-4000 litres of milk by mistake it will be greatly dissolved and wouldn't show on a tank test???

Don't know but wouldn't like to take the chance always use Delvo test here

I've let cows in by mistake into the tank when they would be on their last day of withdrawal and when I then brought a tank sample to the creamery it failed.

As Glanbia say if in doubt let it out.
Although I always bring in a sample if I'm in doubt.

It might have a few years ago but the tests now are much more accurate in finding traces. I had one cow last spring that I left into the tank when the withdrawal was finished and got a call from the creamer telling me that I was close to failing the test.

I wouldn't chance it and always test before calling the first collection. Or if I'm anyway suspicious that I might have left a wrong one into the tank.
