I see that for tams you are a young farmer if you are under 40. My question is what exactly is 40? Are you over 40 when you become 40 or 41 e.g. it is now December. If some one was 30 in September then are they over 40 to be considered 40 years old for a grant application?

If You turn 40 in that particular year You are ok. If You come into the year at 40 You would not qualify. Afaik

Its not so simple. I was 33 when I applied for tams and only got 40% not 60% as I've been in partnership with my parents for 10 years. Not all to do with age.

Yeah you can only be officially farming 5 years to get the benefits but You must be under 35 to get stamp duty exemption on land transfer
