JSB to JSA: PTEO

    Hi,

I'm currently doing Part Time Education Option via Springboard and have signed up for that while in receipt of Job Seekers Benefit. My credits are running out and I got a letter to say I need to apply for Job Seekers Allowance.

Is it the case that I have to apply for JSA now that I'm signed up for Part Time Education via Springboard? Is the this normal? Ideally, I would be happy if I could have kept my JSB until I'm in a position to find work.

I'm going to visit my Intreo office on Monday but this is playing on my mind so much right now. I'm just wondering of anyone else knows or has a similar experience?

I'm living in a low-income household (only one out of 4 of us is working part-time) However, I'm really worried that this will effect my payment on JSA. I pay money to my parents to contribute to bills. The course I'm doing is officially Part time but I'm putting-in about 30-35 hours per week.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

When you transfer to Jobseeker's Allowance and you satisfy the means test and you are aged 26 or over you will receive the full amount of €193.00 per week. You can continue on the Part Time Education Option once you are still seeking, capable of and available for full time employment. Your situation at home shouldn't affect the amount of JA you will receive per week.

Thanks a million for your response. I was unsure of that when I looked it up on citizens info but feeling better about it now. Thanks.
