Documents to court

This is seeking advice on etiquette, not legal advice.

I have to submit documents on request of the court to a district court judge in advance of a case that was adjourned and from what I can see I have to post to the court clerk.

Who actually gets these documents? I presume the judge has to see them but it is to him/her who I am writing i.e do I write Dear Clerk , Dear Judge or something different ?

Also, on the morning of the case I want to check these documents have been received. I am representing myself, is it permissible to visit the court clerk who sits in the court room itself in this instance prior to the hearing time i.e. the last time solicitors were rambling in and out before we were all called in - am I allowed to go in and check the clerk has received everything or what was the etiquette?
