    Hi all,
In 2 weeks I'll be taking ferry from cork to Cherbourg. I arrive into Cherbourg at 4:30pm, so don't want to drive too late.
Can anyone recommend a place to stop with my camper within 3/4 hours of Cherbourg in the direction of olot/Girona.
Just saw Nantes could be an option... any ideas of where to park camper there?
    Thanks in advance!

You have decided to go via Nantes and not via Le Mans and Tours?

No still deciding which way is best... would you recommend via tours instead? Is it a better road?

Are you going to use the motor ways?

probably best option at this time of year.

Either route good, particularly if using motorways.

number of campsites will be quite limited.

    Have you considered using Aires?

Tours Le Mans route probably a bit more interesting.

Most Aires usually available all year round.

    other links for options,

one at least has an option for filtering for only ones that are open at this time of year, not sure which.

    great, thanks for that piuswal.

I heard about Aires, and as I am travelling alone I was wondering how safe if would be? I wont be arriving to sleep till night time.. and just a bit aware that I will have no idea where to go/ what to expect.

If I was you I would not travel too far and get to some aire before nightfall. Just pick one say if you think you would make it to let's say north of Le Mans! Now I mean a nice bit north of it! Try this website . . .

Great site to stop at in Nantes. Owned by the city.

With the ferry docking that late when we have been heading south we have stopped at the city campsite in Rennes.

You should make it before the gate closes but they waited at the desk for us for 20 mins on one occasion as we rang ahead.
